4-H Photo Challenge for Youth Day

Section Rules and Regulations:

1.    This event is designed to provide 4-H Members only with an opportunity to develop and demonstrate creative and communication skills while demonstrating their knowledge and enjoyment of photography.  Participants MUST be 4-H members, and will be assigned in divisions according to their 4-H Age: Juniors (age 8-10 as of 1/1/09), Intermediate (age 11-13 as of 1/1/09), or Seniors (age 14-18 as of 1/1/09).  Pre-entry is required.  All entry forms are due to the County Extension Educator by August 29, 2009.  All exhibitors must complete and submit a release form.  Specific, final contest time details will be sent to entrants before the fair.

 

2.    Participants are provided with one disposable camera, loaded with film.  Participants are allowed a specified amount of time to canvas fairgrounds and shoot scenes that fit a theme, “4-H in Action”.  Participants should consider variety, diversity & uniqueness when choosing scenes.  Participants must select scene, aim camera & take picture without outside assistance or guidance.  Participants must remain on fairgrounds and are not allowed to enter areas off-limits to the general public.  At the end of allotted time, participants will turn in cameras to 4-H Building for processing.  Developed photos are returned to participants at the appointed time.  Once the developed photos are returned to the participants, they are allowed 1 hour to choose the 5 best pictures and mount photos on a display for judging. No outside assistance or guidance is allowed.

 

 

3.    Awards: Ribbons and premiums will be awarded to the 1st – 3rd Place Winners in each class.  Rosettes will be awarded to the Best Collection of Pictures in each class.  Special awards will be presented to the Best Single Picture per class.

 

4.    The photo displays will be returned to the contestant: however the negatives will become property of the Maryland Cooperative Extension and may be used to promote 4-H in a variety of venues.  Participants will be required to sign a release.

 

 

5.    Participants must report to the 4-H Building at the appointed time, to complete the contest.
