Entries are limited to original paintings and drawings in all media.  Three-dimensional art is not allowed.  Pictures painted by numbers are not allowed.  Copyrighted images i.e. Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob, Snoopy, may not be used.  All exhibits must be framed and/or matted (except Scratch Art) and ready to hang prior to arrival.  All fine art mats and work, excluding oils, should be protected with acetate to prevent smudging.  Items should be no larger than 24" x 36".  Unbreakable covering is preferred.

All photos must be at least 4"x6" but not larger than 11"x14", except sequence/story classes.  Photos in the sequence/story classes should be no larger than 5"x7".  All photos must be mounted on matte board or illustration board using spray adhesive, heat seal or other permanent mounting medium.  Photos should not be framed.  Photos may be mounted horizontally or vertically.  Photos must have been taken by the Exhibitor (Exhibitor may not be in picture).  Photos may be color or black and white except for class 11.
 
The following information must be printed on the upper left corner of the back of the mount:  Exhibitor's Name, Age, 4-H County and Phone Number.  A white 3"x5" card must be attached to the lower front right corner of the mount with the following information typed on the card:  Title of picture, Date picture was taken, Name of camera, Type of camera, and Type of film used.

C. COLLECTIONS
All collections must be mounted neatly and secured. All specimens should be properly identified.  In order to enjoy more fully the true benefit of a hobby or exhibit, most collections are enlarged each year by the addition of new items or specimens.  Basic collections which have been exhibited before but have been altered by the addition of new materials, new mounting, or display cases, can be entered as such collections are not considered the same entry exhibited previously.  An addition of 7 new specimens is given as a minimum number adding to a collection each year. These new additions and other alterations must be stated on a 4 x 6 index card.

• Some type of clear plastic should cover collection.
• Items must have been collected by the exhibitor, not purchased as a collection.
• No bean bag type collections will be accepted (This includes "Beanie Babies")
• Exhibits 5 through 12 must be covered with a clear, plastic cover (such as Saran Wrap, etc).
• Exhibits 13 through 19 must be in a notebook.

D. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
Entries will be divided into two age groups (Junior 8-13 years of age and Senior 14 to 18 years). The objective of the computer technology exhibit are:
a. To provide an opportunity for youth interested in computers to exhibit a project.
b. To stimulate interest in the computer project by giving visibility to what is being done currently and allowing 4-H’ers to gain new ideas for computer projects.
c. To encourage youths to demonstrate the ways in which computers relate to their other projects (recordkeeping, data, analysis, etc.) Each exhibit should be accompanied by at least 1/2 page description which tells the program purpose, limitations, unique features and hardware requirements.
 
CLASS 20 through 24 are for 4-H members with less than 2 years of computer experience.

Section YN - Baked Goods

Exhibitors must enter the exact number of items indicated in the parentheses in the class descriptions, i.e. cookies (4) means 4 individual cookies.  All food entries must be accompanied by a 3"x5" Recipe Card.  The recipe card should include a list of ingredients and their amounts and the procedure for preparing the product.  Recipe cards may be printed or typed.  Exhibits without recipe cards will be DISQUALIFIED.  Commerical frosting is not allowed.  The frosting recipe should be included on the recipe card.  Cake mixes are not allowed, except in the Create-a-Cake class.  Refrigeration is not available therefore cream cheese, yogurt, whipping cream, etc. may not be used in fillings or icings.  Eggs in all products must be cooked.  The fair is not responsible for personal containers.   Exhibits will be disposed of when they are no longer visually appealing.  All food exhibits, excluding gift baskets/boxes will be disposed of by Fair staff.  Healthy Choices Classes are baked items where ingredients have been eliminated, reduced or substsitued so people with dietary restrictions may enjoy them.  Substitutions must be specific.  Include an explanation of changes made to the recipe and what needs will be met by these changes.  Judges will evaluate the item for its quality, taste and effectiveness in meeting a special dietary need.

DRIED FOODS CLASSES – Drying foods is a method of preserving.  Moisture is removed from fruits/vegetables to preserve them for later use.  Food must be dried enough to inhibit all bacteria, molds and enzymes.  Dried fruits and vegetables are clean, flavorful, have characteristic color, and are brittle (vegetables) or leathery (fruits).  (Jars should be ½ pint standard clear canning jars and may be opened for judging.)  Label All Products With Product Name, Drying Methods and Length of Time of Drying.

Section YT - Honey and Beeswax Exhibit
 General Rules 
  • All honey and beeswax must be the property of the exhibitor and must have been produced by him within a 15 month period prior to entry 
  • All honey exhibited must have been gathered and ripened in a natural way by honeybees. 
  • No exhibitor’s name or label will be allowed on any entry. 
  • Only one entry will be allowed in each class from any household, partnership or beekeeping establishment. 
  • Competent judging will be provided. Judges may withhold prizes for insufficient merit and remove from public view any entry or part thereof which, in his opinion, discredits the exhibition. 
  • The Chairman and/or Judge will determine the color class of extracted honey 
  • Any exhibitor who wishes information as to how his entry was placed by the judges can receive this information by consulting the chairman of the honey exhibits.

Eligibility - Any producer may enter one fleece per breed, provided he owned the sheep at time of shearing.
  • Fleeces must have shorn in current year. 
  • Fleece must be tied with paper twine. 
  • A yearling fleece may be 16 months 
  • Fleeces entered by breed should be shorn from a sheep clearly representative of that breed. A commercial fleece may be from any sheep.
  • In case of controversy, the decision of the department superintendent and the judge shall be final.
Preparation - Fleece should be rolled properly - flesh side out and tied with paper twine, in such a way as to allow adequate handling,
yet not affect the character or attractiveness. Each fleece must be tagged with the following: Name and address of exhibitor, breed,
sex, number of month’s growth.

  • Entries must be submitted in the name of the spinner and spun within the last year or in the case of handspun articles, completed since last years fair. 
  • Skeins should be at least 2 oz. In weight (exceptions stated) have a circumference of 1 ´ to 2 yards, and be tied in at least three places. They should also be washed and blocked. 
  • Articles made from handspun yarns must be constructed by the spinner, be made entirely of yarn spun by that person. 
  • Identify all fibers and breeds when possible.
