Open Class

Permission must be given for any trailer or camper to be parked within the Fair gates, please call the Fair Board Office at 410-535-0026 to register.  SPACE IS LIMITED

 

GENERAL LIVESTOCK REGULATIONS

 

1.  All animals must meet the individual species requirements of the Maryland State Department of Agriculture. Health papers must be checked by the veterinarian and/or livestock superintendent before animals may be unloaded. REFER TO HEALTH REGULATIONS.

 

2.  Livestock will be received on Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m.  Check-in is required.  After animals have been checked by veterinarian and/or livestock superintendent and after animals have been unloaded, you must check-in with Gail Hatfield.  Animals must be on the grounds by 8 p.m. Tuesday of the Fair Week and shall remain until released at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

 

3.  Breed classes will be adjusted to accommodate all exhibitors.

 

4.  All purebreds must be shown in purebred classes even if breed registration papers are not available.  Market animals may be either purebred or crossbred.  No papers are necessary for these animals. The same animal may not be entered in the breeding and market classes. 

 

5.  All animals must be clean and presentable for the entire fair. 

 

6.  Market animals exhibited by adults are not to be sold at the 4-H/FFA livestock sale.

 

7.  Please refer to the individual species section to see if more specific rules apply to your exhibits.  This department is open to exhibitors from the five (5) Southern Counties.

 

8.  The Fair Board and/or the Livestock Committee Chairman reserves the right to refuse any entry which it feels does not meet the intent of these requirements.  The right is also reserved to cancel, combine or alter any class which it feels will enhance or better our fair and livestock show.

 

9.  All livestock exhibited must have been owned/raised by the exhibitor as of August 1. 

 

10.  Animals will not be allowed to unload or be admitted unless they have an eartag or tattoo.

 

11.  The management will not be responsible for loss by fire or otherwise, but will exercise all vigilance in the care of exhibits.  The greatest care will be taken of all specimens, but the fair will not be responsible for accidents, mistake, loss, damage, from whatever arises.  The specimen is being exhibited at the sole risk of the exhibitor.

 

12.  No late registrations will be accepted.

 

13.  Pens and cattle areas must cleaned at departure or premiums will be forfeited.

After all breed classes are completed, breed Champions and Reserve Champions will compete for the following:

BEST OF SHOW - Female
GRAND CHAMPION - Market Steer
RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION - Market Steer
 
 
 
Section B - Sheep
 
ALL PUREBREDS, CROSSBREDS AND NATURAL COLORED WOOL BREEDS

  1. Barrows do not have to be registered or purebred
  2. Tusks must be removed from any boars to be shown
