


2009 General Rules and RegulationsThe following rules will be observed at the Calvert County Fair:
Entries
will be received from noon to 8:00 pm on Monday of Fair Week. In order to expedite the entry process,
please arrive prior to 7:00 pm if you have more than 10 entries. Bakery products will also be received Tuesday
from 8:30 – 9:30 am. in the Adult/Homemakers’ Building ONLY. Judging
will begin at 10:00 am Tuesday. During
judging building entry will be limited to Fair Board members, judges and clerks
assisting with the judging process.
Doors officially open at 4:00 pm Wednesday. All
entries must have an entry number. Those
may be obtained from the fair office for adults; at the 4-H/Youth building for
4-H and Youth. All
entries must have been made or grown by the exhibitor, a resident of one of the
five Southern Maryland Counties – Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince
George’s and St. Mary’s, between October
1, 2008 to September 22, 2009. 4-H
and Juniors will be judged by the DANISH
SYSTEM unless otherwise noted. Prizes
will be given for listed items ONLY.
Champion ribbons or trophies will be awarded in each department. The
Fair Board reserves the right to deny any entry. Exhibit
halls will close at 5:00 pm on the last day of the fair. Exhibits must be
removed Monday following the fair from noon to 8:00 pm. Every
animal and article will be handled with appropriate care; however the fair will
in no case be responsible for any loss, damage or accident that may occur. Every
effort will be made for the safety of the public; however, the Fair Board will
not be responsible for any accident. If the patrons do not accept this, they
may go to the office and their admission will be refunded. Anyone
removing entries from the Fairgrounds before noon Monday will forfeit their
premiums. Any exhibit not claimed will be discarded and the premium
forfeited. All entrants are responsible
for cleaning their display areas at the Fair’s close. One
entry per class, unless otherwise noted. All adults and leaders
working with junior exhibitors are under an affirmative responsibility to do
more than avoid improper conduct or questionable acts and behavior. Their moral values must be so certain and
positive that those younger and more pliable will be influenced by their fine
example. Those who, by their actions,
exhibit less than model behavior will be escorted from the premises at the
discretion of the Fair Board or their representatives. |
